lyrics

It was the 8th of April when I laid my eyes upon her,
And she giggled and said Conor, Oh I've heard of you before
I said darlin' ain't that pretty like yourself, your pretty witty
Only darlin' what a pity, what you hangin' round here for

She said she had a friend who was seeing a no good drinker
And she came out for to see her, hoped she wouldn't stagger home
I said that's my man Fitzpatrick, he's a good boy when he's after
But before a drink he'll snap ya, leave ya laying on the floor

Well at that her eyes did glow, and I should've played the coward
But I felt a higher power and I took her by the hand
And we had walked around the corner and she pulled a handgun on me
Said Hennessy your wanted, and so is your drinking friend

So it's 7 months in Dedham with the no goods,
And 13 more if I keep proud
I ain't sayin I wouldn't have done the same
If only had I known,
Well If I had only known
I would've left that Boston town

It was the 8th of April when I laid my eyes upon her,
And she smiled and said Conor, Oh I've heard of you before
Had I known what I know now, I would've split the whole damn town
I can hear her voice still now, layin on the jailhouse floor
